A sociologist by trade, he also launched a career as a sculptor and painter. He has taught sculpture classes in South Florida and Western Massachusetts where he now resides with his wife Peggy. His work is in private collections in the U.S. and abroad.

Style and Statement

Richard’s sculpture draws on mythological motifs and acrobatic themes.  He studied bronze casting in upstate New York, but also works in terra cotta, wood, and various industrial materials.

His paintings include commissioned portraiture as well as landscapes, often with surrealistic touches.  He works in oil, pastel and watercolor, and the subjects range from novel interpretations of biblical themes to the art of the visual joke.
